I have been a fan of The Biggest Loser in Australia for many years.
I absolutely love watching the contestants change themselves for the better and come out the other end looking a million bucks.
I have laughed, I have cried, I have cheered on the likes of Bob and Tiffany, Margie Cummins and then in the latest series, Robyn and Katie, Gerald and Todd and Janet and Kirsten, who were all just amazing contestants to watch!
I shared their heartache, I felt their pain and I swore I would look after myself better. They gave me the motivational kick in the pants I desperately needed when things were getting out of hand.
This year, The Biggest Loser came to our little old town of Ararat. They came promising to change the shape of one of Australia's most obese towns.
Now I must admit, I had my misgivings.
How on earth were they going to get everyone involved and change our town's stigma.
We had become 'Arafat' after all!
Let me put it in a little bit of perspective for you.
If you are from the town, you will well know, we have three pizza shops, MacDonald's, KFC, Subway, two Fish and Chip shops, seven pubs and a heck of a lot of takeaway businesses and cafes in and around the town. All of which stocked mainly fat-laden, pastry-covered, over-indulgent, unhealthy (crap) food!
I mean, this is how we got fat in the first place, Biggest Loser!
Fears were laid out that the various businesses would run them out of town, or would close up shop, depending on how the townsfolk reacted!
Two very scared looking trainers Shannan Ponton and Steve Willis AKA The Commando, showed up at the Town Hall and pleaded with the locals to change their fat-fuelled ways.
They wowed us with some shocking facts, with the assistance of Doctor Norman Swan and some very disgusting props!
Will Ararat hear the call? Will they accept the challenge?
Tune in and watch The Biggest Loser on Channel Ten at 6.30pm this Sunday for the first instalment of Ararat's 'Challenge Australia'!
I will be blogging along with the series and I will be sharing my fears, my feats and my goals, so make sure to watch this space for more behind the scenes action and discussions along the way!
